Plus, with $5,000 available in Lap Money, the potential Winner could leave the Ovid, MI, speed plant, with as much as $25,567 when also including the $500 X.L.T. Engineering Fast Qualifier Award. Additionally, Hall Anodizing & Hardcoat is putting up a $300 Bonus for the Hard-Charger Award.
Northside, a long-time recognized towing company, is also in full support of HitWhileHelping.org. Matt Spencer, a second-generation tow operator from Hastings, MI, is sharing the story of his son, Keagan Spencer, a skilled third-generation tower, who tragically lost his life while assisting on the side of the road on November 4, 2023
Spencer, 25, who was just beginning to build his own towing business, was known throughout the industry for both his technical ability and his genuine connections with others. A natural problem-solver and a community builder, Keagan embodied the values of service and selflessness passed down through his family.
While transporting vehicles with his young daughter, Keagan stopped to assist on a freeway in Grand Rapids, Michigan. While outside his truck, he was struck and killed by a speeding, distracted 18-year-old driver traveling over 80 mph. His 16-month-old daughter witnessed the incident from the cab.
Keagan’s death highlights the dangers faced by roadside workers every day and underscores the urgent need for greater awareness and enforcement of Move Over laws. For more information, please go to HitWhileHelping.org.
Another special moment for this event The Finley family, and Northside Towing & Service, will recognize Bob Finley Jr., who was on a fast pace to help grow the family business in his own right, starting Northside of Pottervill,e until he would succumb to his health issues in 2005.
"Bobbie was a very hard worker and even more determined to succeed,” stated Jeff Finley. “If he were here today, our company would be much stronger, that’s for sure. He is missed by all." Finley added.
The Finley family would like to thank everyone for their support and looks forward to seeing you all June 18th at Owosso Speedway.
