Ashton Winger Visits Victory Lane for the Second-Straight Week

Bests Buckshot for First-Career Schaeffer’s Oil Spring Nationals Triumph

HAMPTON, Ga. (04/08/24) – Ashton Winger visited Victory Lane for the second-straight week with his Jeff Mathews Motorsports No. 12 Super K Express / Recreational Vehicle Select / XR1 Rocket Chassis / Durham Racing Engine Super Late Model. His latest conquest was achieved on Friday night at Alabama’s Buckshot Speedway, where he scored his first-career Schaeffer’s Oil Spring Nationals win from the sixth-starting spot.

“I feel like we were pretty good all night - the (time trial) groups were pretty even tonight and we just barely got beat in qualifying,” quoted Winger in Schaeffer’s Oil Victory Lane on Friday night. “It is hard when you start sixth, these 40-lappers are sprints. Thanks to series promoter Ray Cook and everybody for giving us a place to race. I actually enjoy coming over here to Buckshot, it is a different place that we haven’t been to a whole lot. Thanks to all of the fans for coming out and to all of our great sponsors with Jeff Mathews Motorsports!”

Kicking off a doubleheader weekend in the state of Alabama, Ashton Winger unloaded the Mathews Motorsports No. 12 machine at Buckshot Speedway (Clanton, Ala.) on Friday evening for the $7,553-to-win Schaeffer's Oil Spring Nationals event.

Among a stout 32-car field, Winger stopped the clock third-quickest in his qualifying group which automatically secured his spot in the 40-lap main event. Quickly charging through the field from his sixth-place starting position, Ashton sailed passed race-leader David Breazeale on lap seven and led the remaining 33 circuits to secure his first-career Schaeffer's Oil Spring Nationals victory. Winger collected the $7,553 paycheck while David Breazeale and Spencer Hughes joined him on the podium.

Hoping to find Victory Lane once again on Saturday, the Mathews Motorsports team followed the series to East Alabama Motor Speedway (Phenix City, Ala.) for the $10,053-to-win Jimmy Thomas Memorial.

Picking up the victory in his heat race, Ashton started the 53-lap feature from outside row two and finished just off the podium in fourth when the checkered flag flew. He trailed Kyle Bronson, Zack Mitchell, and Garrett Smith while Dalton Cook completed the Top-5.
