Big Money Weekend on Tap for Great Lakes Super Sprints

The Michigan CAT Great Lakes Super Sprints Presented by Engine Pro and ARP are set to tackle a doubleheader weekend that starts with a big money show on Friday at I-96 Speedway in Lake Odessa, MI before moving on to Crystal Motor Speedway in Crystal, MI on Saturday night. The Friday event features a $5,000 payday and over $400 to start the 25 lap main event thanks to Jim Coffey and Son Plumbing and Heating. Then, the standard purse and bragging rights return for Saturday's battle at Crystal Motor Speedway.

Many of the regulars on the Michigan CAT GLSS front are no strangers to I-96 Speedway. The track hosts GLSS on a regular basis and is arguable the GLSS "home track" over the past several seasons. Earlier this year, the Michigan CAT opener was slated to be at the wide and fast I-96 Speedway, however, Mother Nature washed those plans away.

When the GLSS were finally able to unload at I-96, it was a classic showdown between two of the original powerhouse drivers on the Tour, Dustin Daggett and Jared Horstman. The iconic duo featuring the bright orange No.17 of Horstman against the blue No.85 of Daggett is a showdown fans of I-96 have seen time and time again. Despite a late-race restart where Horstman threw a bomb at Daggett, the Portland, MI native was able to hold serve and go on to win back on May 31st.

The return to I-96 this Friday night will bring one of the highest-paying purses of the GLSS in 2024 with a $5,000 carrot dangling in Victory Lane. But not just the race winner is getting paid on Friday night, with the race paying a solid $425 to start. The 10th place finisher will pocket $575 with the first $1000 of the night being handed out to the fifth place finisher. This pay structure was made possible thanks to the support of Jim Coffey Plumbing and Heating of Jackson, MI.

Then on Saturday, GLSS heads back to central Michigan and Crystal Motor Speedway for the second time this season. Back on May 4th, Kasey Jedrzejek came from the outside of row three to pick up his first career GLSS win over Phil Gressman and Mike Keegan.
