Boos Out at Montpelier Motor Speedway; King Takes Reigns

Updated: Feb 1, 2023

Montpelier, IN (Tuesday, January 31, 2023) - In another surprising turn of events for a track promoted by Larry Boos, Montpelier Motor Speedway officials announced via their Facebook page that Boos would not be returning in 2023. The promoter who was at one time best known for his work with the Rumble in Ft. Wayne had several irons in the fire in 2022, including Montpelier, Gas City I-69 Speedway, and Winchester Speedway to name a few.

Earlier this month Boos announced that Gas City I-69 Speedway was reducing their 2023 schedule down to special events only. In a letter posted to that Speedway's Facebook page, Boos apologized for shortcomings at the facility, the lack of Champions' recognition, and other faults at Gas City. You can read more on his announcement for Gas City I-69 Speedway here.

A similar announcement was made Tuesday evening for Montpelier. In a post seemingly composed by Boos, he announced his departure and in the same post announced the incoming of a new promoter for this season.

The post reads in part, "After a one year and half run at the historic facility, I will be moving away in 2023. There are many reasons behind the move, but social media is not the place to air them... Chad King will be taking over the operation and I wish him well, he has many great ideas and a ton of enthusiasm. He will be a welcome addition and I urge you to support him... Regarding the 2022 awards and recognition, once the current obstacles are hurdled, they will be taken care of. Good luck to everyone in 2023 and thanks for the generous support and understanding."

As for King, he returned a request for comment and we'll have more from him tomorrow at www.HorsepowerHappenings.com.
