Butler Motor Speedway Releases 21 Event Schedule for 2023

All Star Sprints, Hell Tour, GLSS Highlight Special Shows

Quincy, MI (Sunday, February 5, 2023) - Butler Motor Speedway (BMS) has officially released their 2023 schedule of events. The 3/8ths-mile high-banked oval in southern Michigan is entering its sophomore season with former Track Champion Tim Wilber at the helm. Last season, a 21-event schedule was released and all but two events were completed as mother nature claimed two nights in 2022. Last season featured stops by the Great Lakes Super Sprints (GLSS), DIRTcar UMP Summer Nationals Hell Tour, and various specials for the weekly racing program. This season, the Speedway has built off that success and added even more specialty shows.

The 2023 season will unofficially begin with the traditional Test and Tune, moved this year to the last Saturday in April. Opening Night will be Saturday, May 6 with the weekly racing divisions featuring “open” 410 Winged Sprint Cars, DIRTcar UMP Modifieds, Street Stocks, and Front-Wheel Drive (FWD). On May 13, the Midwest Compact Touring Series sanctions the FWD portion of the show; Saturday, May 27 is the James Perkins Memorial. James “Jim” Perkins was a longtime official at the Speedway, spanning several decades.

June 3 the Great Lakes Traditional Sprints bring their 410 non-wing action to the Speedway. On Saturday, June 10, fans will get the chance to get up close and personal with their favorite driver during Autograph Night. June 17 will be a Sprint Car fan’s dream come true with the Regular 410 Sprints plus the GLSS. Street Stocks will battle for an increased $750 to win June 24.

The ever-popular Fireworks Show is on Saturday, July 8. The DIRTcar UMP Summer Nationals Hell Tour returns to Butler on Thursday, July 13 featuring UMP Late Models and the Summit Equipment DIRTcar Modifieds. On July 15th the Speedway will celebrate its Mid-Season Champions and award double-points to all drivers competing that night. July 22 will feature what is commonly referred to as “Old Timers Night”, now labeled Legends of the Past. GLTS is back on July 29, and BMS will honor the back-to-school season with Backpack night on Saturday, August 5.

Through the end of the season, special events highlight the schedule. Saturday, August 19 features the GLSS. The following week, August 26, the All Star Circuit of Champions makes their first trip to the Speedway since 2015. Modifieds will have the night off. September 2 features the Terry Wilber Memorial, September 9 highlights the John C Reeve Memorial which typically highlights an increased purse for all divisions. The season will come to a close on Saturday, September 16 with Season-Championship Night.
