Special from Owosso Speedway: Ovid, MI (November 8, 2022) - Owosso Speedway Management and Champion Racing Association Officials (CRA) have reached an agreement for two appearances in the upcoming 2023 Race Season. Saturday June 10th, 2023 will be the first appearance, and Saturday July 29th, 2023 will be the second appearance at the historic Owosso Speedway.
Owosso Speedway owner Rex Wheeler had the following comments leading up to the finalization of the agreed dates for 2023.
“Owosso Speedway for decades has had the configuration that provides fantastic racing, Our investment in the surface, and in the amenities in the years ahead is designed to host premium National Tours like the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour. Our fans for decades have enjoyed a "who’s who" in racing visiting our historic facility. We’re under massive renovation over the next 5 years. This is only the beginning of the types of races we will be known for hosting. Our facility will reflect the quality of the Mid Michigan Divisions we are developing and National Tours we will be investing in hosting. In our future seasons a new infield pit lane, so fans can experience short track and all the factors that determine the outcome of these races.”
CRA Series Director Glenn Luckett added, “We are really looking forward to returning to Owosso Speedway in 2023. We look forward to working with the new Owner Rex Wheeler and his whole Owosso Speedway Staff. We have a great group of racers in the Michigan area that are looking forward to supporting our events at Owosso.”
Lastly, Owosso General Manager Jeff Parish said, “Personally we have developed a 15 year relationship with the CRA tours. We’ve seen incredible races, and hosted some real star power in the highest levels of racing today. Owosso has been a host to several of them. We plan on having CRA as part of our business model for years to come and look forward to these shows, and developing new shows with their parent company in the upcoming years ahead. Owosso will be the type of facility they want to be at. Fantastic side by side action, with state of the art amenities. We’ll be looking at exciting things we can do with the purse, etc in the weeks and months ahead with the corporate interest Owosso is receiving. This is good for motorsports in our region.”
