Crystal, MI (Thursday, May 13, 2021) - The inaugural race for the Eastern IMCA Allstars was held Wednesday night at Crystal Motor Speedway. The show was set to feature IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars, Pro Stocks/Trucks, and Compacts. Over 70 cars unloaded in the pits for the rare midweek show in Michigan, marking a successful opening event.
A total of 29 IMCA Modifieds unloaded at Crystal including some of the top names in the region. The field was whittled down to a starting field of 20 cars for the 20 lap $1,000 to win main event. A hard-to-pass-on track greeted the field as John DeYoung, Jr and Nate Jones led the field to the green flag. There were little changes in position among the top five, but there was enough change for Ionia, Michigan’s AJ Ward to go back to victory lane. Ward came from his third starting spot for the win, DeYoung held on to second with Austin Wonch, Jones and Mitchell Hunt rounding out the top five.
A small but competitive field of IMCA Stock Cars graced the speedway. Event promoter Brad Bowser knew the field would be small given IMCA Stock Cars are not a regular division in and around Michigan. In the end, Mike VanderMark, Jr paced the field over the 15 lap feature. Rob Brillhart, Chance Allen and Andrew Fidler rounded out the field.
A total of 23 Front-Wheel Drives showed up for their shot at a Wednesday night win. At the end of 30 laps, Wyoming, Michigan driver, Nick Jenema collected the win over Cory Gumm and Kaleb Hinkley. Allen Hite and Brandon Tichelaar rounded out the top five.
Eastern IMCA Allstars Promoter Bowser said the success of Wednesday night can be credited to a number of people who helped him pull the show together.
“It went very well,” remarked Bowser. “I hired the right guys to make the show run smooth.”
The next Eastern IMCA Allstars event is scheduled for Wednesday, June 23rd at Thunderbird Raceway. For more on the Series, check out Eastern IMCA Allstars on Facebook.
