Nashville, TN - Officials with Champion Racing Association have released the Digital Entry Blank for the Cabin Fever 75 at Shadybowl Speedway on Sunday, April 14th with the Vores Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman. The Cabin Fever at Shadybowl Speedway will kick off the 18th season of racing for the CRA Late Model Sportsman and puts the CRA faithful in a head-to-head duel with the Shadybowl Speedway locals in a struggle for supremacy at the uniquely built Ohio race track.
A tech bulletin has been posted at CRA-Racing.com outlining the details of amendments that have been made to allow the CRA Late Model Sportsman and Shadybowl Late Model Sportsman to be competitive on the same playing field for the Cabin Fever. Last season, fans saw an intense battle on the track that featured 10 lead changes, seven caution flags, and even a red flag for a pileup in turn one.
Billy Hutson and David Barnhart led the field to green in the 2023 Cabin Fever 75. Hutson led the opening lap, but Barnhart took the lead on lap two. Josh Sage put his No.89 at the front of the field on lap 9, before Barnhart and Hutson struggled for the lead with Sage. Sage was forced to the back of the field after the aforementioned crash in turn one. The Piqua, Ohio driver rebounded though, retaking the lead from Hutson for good on lap 50. Hutson and Barnhart rounded out the podium.
The field of potentially 24 cars will be set via single-car qualifying with an invert of 5-10. If needed, two cars will come from a Last Chance Qualifier, one points provisional for CRA Late Model Sportsman from 2023, and one points provisional from Shadybowl Speedway 2023. An open practice will be held on Saturday, April 13th in preparation for the $ 1,500-to-win contest.
