Galesburg, MI – April 25, 2023 – Galesburg Speedway, a premier circle track racing facility in Galesburg, Michigan, is proud to announce a major change for the 2023 racing season. After a long and fruitful partnership with Hoosier Racing Tires, the track will switch to Cobra Racing Tires for both Template Late Models and Street Stocks divisions, with the Burg Stocks using the same rule as last season.
The decision to switch from Hoosier to Cobra Racing Tires was not taken lightly, as the long-standing relationship between Galesburg Speedway and Hoosier has been a key part of the track’s success. We sincerely appreciate all that Hoosier Racing Tires has done for the Speedway and the racing community over the years.
Cobra Racing Tires has a storied history in motorsports, with over 20 years of experience manufacturing tires for kart racing. This decision was made after extensive research, testing, and consultation with some of the most well-known and respected individuals in the racing industry, as well as representatives from several different tracks.
A Galesburg Speedway representative attended a race night at Kingsport Speedway in Kingsport, TN, to observe the performance of Cobra Racing Tires. We would like to extend our gratitude to Kingsport Speedway for their hospitality and invaluable insights. Additionally, a tire test was conducted at another local track by two well-known and respected drivers, further solidifying our confidence in Cobra Racing Tires.
Cobra Racing Tires are made with a natural rubber blend, providing more consistent lap times and requiring limited to no tire prep. We believe this change will benefit both drivers and fans alike by enhancing competition and providing exciting races throughout the season. Cobra’s natural rubber blend offers more consistent lap times, limited fall off in performance, and minimal to no tire prep. Drivers at Kingsport Speedway achieved similar lap times with over 100 feature laps on the Cobra tires.
Our number one goal at Galesburg Speedway is to support our drivers, and we believe that partnering with Cobra Racing Tires will help lower the cost of racing for teams. The improved tire durability is expected to reduce the number of tires teams will need to purchase throughout the season.
