Hartford and Thunderbird on Tap for GLSS Weekend

Hartford, MI (Friday, August 13, 2021) - The Great Lakes Super Sprints Presented by Engine Pro and ARP are back in action this weekend with yet another double header program for sprint car fans across the region. Starting Friday night, drivers will head to Hartford Speedway in Hartford, Michigan before making the haul up to Thunderbird Raceway in Muskeegon, Michigan.

The trip to Hartford is the second of the season after a rain out earlier this year. Just a month ago, GLSS saw a spectacular race at the fast and unique shaped race track. Portage, Michigan’s Dustin Daggett came from the seventh starting spot to hold off Brett Mann for the win. Mann, who wrecked after the checkers, started fourth and led a few laps before Daggett got the best of the Michigan Motorsports Hall of Fame driver. Zane DeVault, Ryan Ruhl and Danny Sams III rounded out the top five.

Then on Saturday, it’s the one and only stop at Thunderbird Raceway for this season. Dustin Daggett also has the honors of being the last driver to win a GLSS race at that track. In 2020, Daggett outran eventual series Champion, Jared Horstman to collect the win. Max Stambaugh, Ryan Ruhl and Dan McCarron rounded out the top five.

The Championship Points battle is heating up as the season rolls on. Stambaugh and Ruhl are locked in a tight battle at the top of the leaderboard, separated by just eleven points after last week. The pair have been swapping positions on the track, keeping the points race close. Stambaugh currently leads the points standings after finishing second to Ruhl, who won Friday night at Tri City Motor Speedway. Stambaugh bagged a pair of wins the week prior going back-to-back at I-96 Speedway and Fremont Speedway.

Qualifying/Hot Laps kick off the night Friday for GLSS at Hartford Speedway - cars hit the track at 6:30 PM with racing set to unfold at 8 PM. General Admission Gates open at 5 PM. Then Saturday at Thunderbird, Gates open at 4:30 PM with the first Green Flag of the night at 6:30 PM.
