Special from Champion Racing Association - Salem, IN (June 20, 2021) – Camping World NASCAR Truck Series regular Carson Hocevar got his second ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS win in a row by collecting the checkers in Saturday night’s VanDoorn Racing Development 125 at Flat Rock Speedway. Hocevar also won the Money in the Bank 150 special non-points race at Berlin Raceway on June 9th.
“It’s pretty awesome to get a win in my first ever race here at Flat Rock Speedway,” remarked Hocevar in victory lane. “We had tested here before, but this was the first time I got to actually race here. What a cool little track. My VanDoorn Chassis was pretty good in practice and qualifying, but it really came to life once the race started. It is pretty cool to get the win with John and Butch VanDoorn sponsoring the race. I have to thank my Crew Chief Zach Dunson for giving me a great car and the whole team for their hard work. Thanks to my parents for their support and to all our great sponsors that support me!”
Scotty Tomasik grabbed the early lead from his pole starting position after Hamke Race Cars Fast Qualifier Kyle Crump drew a seven for the events inverted start. Tomasik and outside pole sitter Hunter Jack battled for the lead in the early laps with Hocevar racing hard for third place further back in the field.
Hocevar moved in to battle Jack for second, finally working his way by and set his sites quickly on Tomasik. Hocevar got by Tomasik to get the lead on lap 13. The events only caution flew on lap 28 for the spinning car of Chris Tomasik.
Hocevar held off Jack to keep the lead on the restart. Jack would stay with Hocevar for many laps as the pair knifed there way through the field that had tight racing throughout it for several positions during the entire 125 laps. Hocevar’s lead grew as the pair worked there way through the field with Hocevar taking the win by a little over three seconds over Jack.
Hocevar was the series wins leader in 2020 with five wins and now is the only driver with more than one series win so far in 2021. Hocevar has several more series events on his 2021 Super Late Model schedule, working around his full-time schedule with the Camping World NASCAR Truck Series.
Jack’s second place finish was his best finish of the season and will pad his current points lead with the series. Kyle Crump came from his seventh place starting position to finish in third place, the last car on the lead lap. For his charge to third place Crump picked up a Hoosier Race Tire Performance Award.
Tomasik would finish in fourth place, his crew picked up the PitBoxes.com Pit Crew of the Race Award for their efforts in fixing issues with their car prior to qualifying and working on the car of Chris Tomasik.
