Brooklyn, MI - One of the most recognizable faces in the Midwest Classic Racer Dwarf (MCR Dwarf) car scene, Matt Kemp, proved he is still one of the hardest drivers to beat after an impressive Berlin Raceway win Saturday night. Now, Kemp is eyeing another Automobile Racing Club of America (ARCA) start in his home state of Michigan during the Henry Ford Health 200 at Michigan International Speedway (MIS) Friday afternoon.

A native of Sawyer, Michigan, Kemp’s memories of MIS are as a young fan aspiring to one day race around the famed two-mile D-shaped oval in Brooklyn, Michigan. Kemp shared in a social media post this week that his first-ever trip to MIS was over 15 years ago, attending a NASCAR Cup Series event as a young Jimmie Johnson fan.

Since that day as a young fan, Kemp has played out many dreams as a race car driver, including racing at Talladega Superspeedway, Charlotte Motor Speedway, testing at Daytona International Speedway, and earning his best career ARCA finish of 4th just three weeks ago at Flat Rock Speedway with the ARCA Menards East Series. When Kemp takes the track Friday at MIS in his Fast Track Racing No.9, Kemp will fulfill another dream.

Being the first track I ever attended any form of racing at, it’s still hard to believe and such a special thing to know we’ll have a shot to drive there,” Kemp explained. “Even if we can’t afford to do it like we’d like to, it still means a lot to be out there. I wish I could say racing at MIS was a dream of mine ever since I attended my first race, but honestly, I didn’t dream of racing there as a kid because I couldn’t begin to fathom that it would ever be possible.”

Kemp returns to his home state of Michigan Friday, where he did more than just post his best career finish. His fourth-place run on May 17th at Flat Rock Speedway also earned him the Reece’s Sweet Move of the Race for the ARCA Menards East Series - the cap to a weekend full of spotlight for Kemp and his partners. After showing great speed in practice, Kemp qualified second among some of the most well-resourced teams in the ARCA garage area. Kemp’s front row starting spot and top five finish were some of the best efforts Fast Track Racing had seen in recent memory. The performance was also enough to keep people talking about Kemp and his partners, which made the effort possible.

The Henry Ford Health 200 for the ARCA East Series at Michigan International Speedway is Friday, June 6th at 5:00 PM ET on FS2 or the Motor Racing Network.
