SpeedFest at Watermelon Capital Speedway Features Super & Pro Late Models January 28th
Nashville, TN (Thursday, January 19, 2023) – JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by Chevrolet Performance officials have released the entry list for SpeedFest 2023. SpeedFest, the traditional season opening event is Saturday afternoon, January 28th at Watermelon Capital Speedway in Cordele, GA. Twenty-Three cars have entered the 100-lap Pro Late Model race, representing seven states and one Canadian province.
Former NASCAR Cup Series regular and local hero, David Ragan, from nearby Unadilla, Georgia has filed his entry, driving the no. 17 Byron Outdoor Superstore Chevrolet. Ragan is a multi-time race winner during his 13 full seasons in the NASCAR Cup Series. Ragan has competed in SpeedFest before, qualifying on pole in 2012 and placing himself on the Super Late Model podium in 2012 and 2015.
Katie Hettinger is the lone female driver on the current entry list. Hettinger became the youngest female feature winner at Hickory Motor Speedway last year and earned NASCAR’s Wendall Scott Trailblazer award at season’s end. The Dryden, Michigan racer will be piloting the no. 81 entry for Anthony Campi Racing.
Two-time and defending Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway (NFS) Pro Late Model Track Champion, Dylan Fetcho has entered his US Tank / Hunter Industrial Fans no. 89 Ford. Fetcho’s team car, driven by 2021 NFS Rookie of the Year, Bryson Shaffer has also entered for SpeedFest. Nashville’s Robby Taylor, Joey Meyer, and the Rackley WAR entry of Dawson Sutton will be making their JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour debut.
The event’s home state is well represented in the Pro Late Model field. Nine drivers reside in the peach state including Benjamin Jones, Brett Suggs, David Ragan, Cody Hall, Seth Christensen, Josh Hicks, Joe Dixon, Cale Hall, and Warren Mobley.
Defending race winner Michael Hinde and late model racing veteran Steve Dorer join young Gavin Graham in representing the sunshine state.
JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour SpeedFest – Entry List
SpeedFest 2023 is Friday and Saturday, January 27th and 28th. Friday is practice and qualifying day with all racing activities taking place on Saturday afternoon, beginning at 1:00pm. The event feature Super Late Models, Pro Late Models, Southern Outlaw Late Models, Legends Cars, and Bandoleros. Crisp Motorsports Park, the home of Watermelon Capital Speedway, is located in Cordele, Georgia; exit 104 on I-75.
