Merritt Speedway Goes NASCAR Regional, Announces 2025 Schedule

Lake City, MI - During the 2024 Awards Banquet held Saturday night at Soaring Eagle Casino and Resort in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, officials with Merritt Speedway announced the 2025 schedule of events. The schedule comes after a long winter of speculation and puts to bed rumors of an abbreviated schedule for the historic dirt oval.


The season begins with a pair of Open Practices on Saturday, May 10th and Wednesday, May 14th. The official opening night comes on Saturday, May 17th with an IMCA Modifieds Fast Shafts Qualifier event for $1,300 to win; plus Late Models, Pro STocks, Factory Stocks, 4-6 Cylinders, and Mini Wedges. A two-day show is planned for Memorial Day Weekend on Saturday and Sunday, May 24th and 25th. Saturday will feature Qualifying Races and Dash for Cash events prior to the $2,500 to win Late Model Special on Sunday. May ends with a Double Feature for Late Models, racing 20 laps in each event.

On Saturday, June 7th, Compacts race for a special $400 to win alongside the regular racing line-up. Factory Stocks get a special on Saturday, June 14th for $1,500 to win. Saturday, June 21st it's Pro Stock Night for $1,000 to win and $150 to start. Then, on June 28th, Late Models go at it for $2,000 to win with IMCA Modifieds taking the night off.


Independence Day Weekend begins on Thursday, July 3rd with a Fast Shafts Qualifier weekend and all divisions racing all weekend long. Fireworks are planned for Friday, July 4th and Saturday, July 5th, fans can get through the front gate for just $5. On Saturday, July 12th the Great Lakes Traditional Sprint Presented by MacAllister CAT Rental Store make their only stop of the year; which is paired up with a Michigan Auto Racing Fan Club Night. Late Models will have the night off. Great Lakes Lightning Sprints are in town on Saturday, July 19th giving Pro Stocks the weekend off. Saturday, July 26th the full card is back in tact.


The 37th Annual Ed Vanduinen Wood Tic Memorial is Thursday, July 31st through Saturday, August 2nd. Thursday will be Practice Night, Friday kicks off the racing for all divisions including another Fast Shafts Qualifier Event. Saturday, August 9th, 16th, and 23rd feature a full and regular slate of racing for all divisions, culminating with the Championship Night on Saturday, August 30th.


In a "quiet announcement", fans and teams learned of Merritt Speedway's addition to the NASCAR Regional sanction. Thanks to the NASCAR Regional logo being included on the schedule, it was revealed that Merritt Speedway was in fact added to the list of active NASCAR Regional Tracks on the NASCAR Regional website. Merritt Speedway joins Berlin Raceway and Birch Run Speedway as NASCAR Regional sanctioned facilities.
