Michigan International Speedway Hosts Nite Lites

Families Invited to Tour Christmas Lights at MIS

Brooklyn, MI (Monday, November 30, 2020) - Race fans and Christmas light connoisseurs alike can descend upon the Michigan International Speedway (MIS) from now until December 31st as part of the annual Nite Lites Christmas lights display. The company, which got its start at the Jackson County Fairgrounds, has found a home at MIS over the past four seasons and the event continues to grow.

John Spink, owner of Nite Lites, says that since Nite Lites left the Jackson County Fairgrounds and moved to MIS the show has grown substantially, with new items added each year. Spink says he and his crew have a passion for Christmas lights and the spirit of Christmas.

During a featured video posted on the Nite Lites Facebook page, Spink explains how the company began at humble beginnings and has expanded since their first show. Many of the displays are custom made, with over six miles of Christmas lights glowing all over the grounds of MIS.

“It’s about the kids,” said Spink. “We like to see the smile on the kids in the car and the ‘oo-s’ and the ‘ah-s’ that happen.”

Spink says attendees can expect to see many different versions of Christmas throughout the display, from the original Christian celebration of Jesus Christ, to the children’s stories of Santa Clause and Reindeer.

“As you go through the show, you’re going to see different characters of Christmas,” Spink explained. “Things that we do here, are on the big side.”

The show features a two-lane route from the entrance off of US-12 in Michigan’s Lenawee County, all the way through the infield of the track, onto pit road, and across the two-mile oval. Thousands of lights, including six lighted tunnels and 15 mega trees serve as the main attraction that is viewed from the comfort of your vehicle.

“Nite Lites has become a holiday tradition at Michigan International Speedway, and we are thrilled to be able to do it this year in a socially-distanced way,” said Michigan International Speedway President Rick Brenner. “We know that this event plays an important role in bringing the community together and getting it into the holiday spirit, and we are excited for the opportunity to welcome guests to our track in a safe, festive, family-friendly environment.”

The hours are as follows: 5:30 – 9:00 pm, Sunday – Thursday; 5:30 – 10:00 pm, Friday & Saturday. Admission prices are $25 per car Sunday – Thursday and $30 on Friday & Saturday. Mini-buses, limousines, and motor homes are $45 each while tour buses are $100. Cash and credit cards are accepted.

Guests should enter the Speedway via the US-12 entrance only, 12626 US-12, Brooklyn, Mich. 49230. Monday, December 7 has been designated as Veterans Night, as all veterans and active-duty military will be admitted for free.
