For the first time this season, the Michigan scene got to witness Winged Sprint Car racing. The Michigan CAT Great Lakes Super Sprints Presented by ARP attempted to start things off in April, however, Mother Nature had other plans. So, the first week of May had to work with a double dose of action. The Great Lakes Super Sprints at Crystal Motor Speedway, and 410 sprints at Butler Motor Speedway for their season opener, both on Saturday night.
The GLSS Michigan region opener saw 22 cars unload at Crystal as part of their 153 cars on property. The 25 lap feature saw young driver, Kasey Jedrzejek come from 6th in traffic to take the lead. Phil Gressman and Mike Keegan held on to the podium.
At Butler Motor Speedway, 19 410ci Sprint Cars were on hand as part of 126 cars on property. Zane DeVault finally got his first win with Lane Racing in 2024 after an aggressive move around Alex Aldrich. DeVault dominated the remainder of the race, going virtually untouched. Ricky Peterson and Van Gurley, Jr rounded out the podium.
Butler holds the sole opportunity for drivers to advance in the Michigan Winged Sprint Car Power Rankings Presented by Home Pro Roofing this week, with GLSS on the road to Lawrenceburg Speedway in southern Indiana.
