Midwest Modifieds Join Modifieds of Mayhem in Montgomery Saturday

Mongomery, AL (Friday, March 5, 2021) – The first race of what should be, the first ‘full’ season, for Brian Nester and Bud Grey’s Midwest Modified Tour, is set for this Saturday at Montgomery Motor Speedway in the capital of Alabama. Last year’s abbreviated season, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, saw a successful race at Winchester Speedway with 35 entries. Twelve cars from the north alone are on the entry list for the Hunt for the Bear 57 this Saturday in Montgomery.

This season-opening event is a non-points race for the Midwest Modified Tour and is co-sanctioned with the Modifieds of Mayhem Tour. Mods of Mayhem are a southern-based Tour making stops in Florida, Alabama, and Nashville, Tennessee.

The purpose of scheduling a race several hundred miles south of the Midwest is to continue to make modified racing stronger says Midwest Modified Tour Co-Promoter, Bud Grey.

Stan Narrison, Modifieds of Mayhem Tour Director, told Speed51.com last month, “This will give the northern guys the opportunity to get a race in early and have track time on the new F-70 tire. Cars must declare which rules package they will run. No mixing rules packages. Modifieds of Mayhem or Midwest Modifieds Tour. This is laying the groundwork for some major Modified events in the future.”

Nineteen Modifieds are entered for the Hunt for the Bear 57, four of which are from Michigan. Greg Fullerton of Howell will continue to follow the Midwest Modified Tour. Greg has traveled with the Tour for the past several seasons dating back to its ICAR Modified Tour days. Dave Christensen of Brant, is a modified veteran who has found victory lane many times at Auto City and Dixie Speedways. Also traveling to Alabama is Phil and Andy Bozell. The Bozells are West Michigan racing icons, seeking an early jump on the 2021 season.

Other notable entries from the north include Danny Jackson and 2020 Modifieds of Mayhem Tour Champion, Kyle Purvis. Augie Grill and Derek Griffin highlight the southern entries.

Grandstands Open at 4:00 PM Central Time on Saturday, March 6th. Modified and Pro Late Model qualifying begins at 4:30 and racing starts at 6:30. The Midwest Modified Tour / Modifieds of Mayhem Tour feature is 57 laps and will be accompanied by a 200 lap Pro Late Model feature. Fans will be in attendance for this event and ticket information can be found online at montgomerymotorspeedway.org. This race will also be broadcast live on Speed51 TV.
