Officials with Kalamazoo Speedway have become the first to put an end to hopes of racing on Friday, May 24th citing the chance of severe weather for the greater Kalamazoo County area as the primary concern. A post on social media Friday morning reads in part:
"Attention Race Fans,
Due to the forecasted severe thunderstorms expected to hit right around feature time tonight, we have made the difficult decision to cancel this evening's racing events at Kalamazoo Speedway. The safety of our fans, drivers, and staff is our top priority, and with the anticipated powerful impact of these storms arriving from the lake, we believe this is the best course of action.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding. Stay safe, and we look forward to seeing you at our next event!
The Kalamazoo Speedway Team"
The next event scheduled for Kalamazoo Speedway is Sunday, May 26th for a leased program featuring a 200 lap enduro. Friday, May 31st the speedway returns for regular racing including Late Models, Outlaw Limited Late Models, Street Stocks, and Front Wheel Drives. Find more at KalamazooSpeedway.com.
