Special from Track Enterprises: (Cordele, GA) NASCAR wheelman David Ragan is set to compete at SpeedFest 2023 on Saturday, January 28th at Watermelon Capital Speedway in Cordele, GA. The former NASCAR star has two other appearances at SpeedFest, featuring top ten and five finishes in each. The Georgia native last raced at Daytona International Raceway in August of 2022 finishing 9th capturing his 5th top ten at the infamous speedway.
Ragan, who retired from a fulltime 17-year cup series career in 2019, ran four cup series races in 2022 with two top ten finishes at both the Daytona 500 and Coke Zero Sugar 400. Ragan looks to get back to his roots as he steps behind the wheel of the #17 Byron Outdoor Superstore Pro Late Model competing in the JEGS/CRA All Star Tour portion of SpeedFest 2023.
Ragan has two other starts at SpeedFest with his first coming in 2013 in the Super Late Model division where he finished 7th after qualifying 20th. His next start would come in 2015 where he competed in the Pro Late Model division where he finished 4th after qualifying 5th. Ragan looks to capitalize on his veteran status and pull off a win and begin his 2023 part-time season off the right way.
“It’s great to be back at Watermelon Capital Speedway. I grew up watching racing there as a kid on dirt and raced a bit before they renovated into an asphalt track,” said Ragan. “It’s a home track for me and it always brings some extra excitement to race in front of family and friends. A special thank you to Byron Outdoor and Hudson Bulger Racing for supplying the car. My cousin Brett Ragan helps Tom setup his sons’ cars and it’s nice to know he will be helping get everything ready for the weekend. We’re excited for the race and look forward to putting on a great show” stated Ragan.
