New Smyrna Beach, FL (Friday, February 12, 2021) - The final weekend of Speedweeks is here with several tracks in action and racing all across the state of Florida. Once again this weekend, several Great Lakes Region drivers are in action. At East Bay Raceway Park, the King of the 360s kicked off on Thursday night, and nearly half a dozen local drivers made the show on night one.
Of the nearly fifty cars on property, Elida, Ohio's Max Stambaugh had perhaps the most impressive performance of the night. Struggling in his heat race, Stambaugh raced his way into the main event through a B-Main before driving through the field and finishing inside the top ten to close out the night. Fellow buckeye, Tyler Gunn finished just ahead of Stambaugh in 8th after falling from his 4th starting spot. Several other drivers were on the property and were scattered throughout the A & B-Mains.
In Ocala, Florida, the fastest pace ever for a 30-lap USAC National feature was set when Indiana's, Kevin Thomas, Jr lead the final 17 laps to go on and collect the win. Devin Moran went back to Volusia Speedway Victory Lane after his exciting feature with the World of Outlaws which featured a week-ending crash for Chad Finley. At New Smyrna Speedway, Indiana open-wheel hot shoe, Kody Swanson picked up his first career Late Model win in the Pro Late Model division, holding off Connor Jones and Hunter Wright.
Tonight, Michigan's own Carson Hocevar is set to make history as the youngest driver to ever turn laps on Daytona International Speedway when he takes the green flag with the NASCAR Truck Series. Plus, racing action all across the state of Florida as well.
