Anderson, IN (May 14, 2021) – The Outlaw Super Late Models will invade the Anderson Speedway for the first time in over 20 years. The brand new series, Reveal the Hammer, will be running its second race of their inaugural season this Saturday, May 15. After a successful series opener at New Paris Speedway last weekend, the series is going to the historic quarter-mile bullring that is known for its 500 lap race that traditionally runs days before the Indianapolis 500. The Little 500 is a grueling race for midget-type cars that have run at Anderson Speedway since 1949. A lot of racing enthusiasts do not feel Anderson is cut out for the big, powerful Outlaws, but others feel that that is what will make the race so interesting.
Numerous heavy hitters are on the tentative entry list (found at the end of this article), but the prohibited favorite has to be Tyler Roahrig. The Plymouth, IN native has run five Little 500 races at Anderson finishing third in last year’s event. While the cars are totally different, all the laps around the tight quarter-mile can only help his efforts against the competition that has barely competed there.
Roahrig led the most laps at New Paris last week, but a problem with his car ended his efforts at Lap 92 of the 100 lap race in the inaugural event. Steve Needles collected the first-ever Reveal the Hammer Feature victory last Saturday, and will be another driver expected to be in contention at the end of this one. The winner will receive a modest $3,000 for the victory.
Anderson Speedway is located on Martin Luther King Blvd in Anderson, IN. Pit gates open at 3:00 PM Saturday, with qualifying at 6:00 PM, and racing starting at 7:30 PM. The Reveal the Hammer Outlaws will be accompanied by ThunderCars, Hart’s Auto Center Ford Division, and Marcum Welding Front Wheel Drives. Gate admission is $15, and pit passes start at $26.
