Brandon Sheppard started from the pole and would lead 39 of 40 laps in event #6 of 2022 for the Lucas Oil Dirt Late Model Series, at All-Tech Raceway in Lake City, Florida. Sheppard would have to fight off Ricky Thornton Jr throughout the first half of the event. But a late caution with 3 laps remaining would eliminate a 2.5 second lead for B-Shep and shake up the top 5. On the restart, Thornton would have issues, falling back to 5th. Jonathan Davenport would take over the runner-up spot coming to the white flag. But it was 2-time winner in 2022 Devin Moran, who would charge from 5th to 2nd in the final laps, as Davenport had electrical issues coming to the checkers, and would end up 3rd. The win was Sheppard’s first series win of 2022, taking home a cool $10,000. Moran would pick up his 4th runner-up finish to go with 2 wins, in the first 6 series events.
