Teepe Gets Dream Win with the Van Hoy Oil CRA Street Stocks at Winchester Speedway

Special from Champion Racing Association: Salem, IN (September 6, 2022) – Indianapolis, Indiana’s Andrew Teepe led wire to wire in Sunday’s Van Hoy Oil 40 for the Van Hoy Oil CRA Street Stocks Powered by JEGS at Winchester Speedway’ to claim a dream win and locked himself into the final four with the series’ 2022 Chase for the Championship.
“Getting the win today was really awesome,” remarked a very happy Teepe in victory lane. “Ever since I’ve started racing CRA it’s been a big dream of mine to win at Winchester, I won the new stars race in 2016 but it doesn’t compare to this! We had a decent car all weekend, fighting a tight car again but still not far off. We qualified 9th and with the luck of the draw we got to start on the pole! Everyone knows passing on the inside at Winchester is hard but I was able to get it done on the start coming into turn one and just went off from there! The car was loose at the beginning but the longer we raced it tightened up. I have to thank my family for all they do and allowing me to do what I love! Thanks to all my sponsors, without them I wouldn’t be out here racing!”
Teepe got to start on the pole after Van Hoy Oil/Allstar Performance Fast Qualifier Jason Atkinson drew a nine for the events inverted start. Teepe grabbed the lead at the drop of the flag with plenty of tight racing behind him through out the top ten. Teepe was able to hold on to the lead on three restarts from three cautions and one red flag, which came out when the Jake McElfresh blew an engine coming out of turn two and burst into flames that extinguished themselves quickly but left a big clean-up for the track crew down the back stretch.
Teepe used the high groove to his advantage and built a lead after each restart to get the win by just over one and a half seconds. With the win Teepe is now locked into the final four Chase for the Championship drivers along with Regular Season Champion Dalton Conner, who will race for the series 2022 Championship back at Winchester Speedway on Saturday, October 15th, as long as they compete in each Chase for the Championship event.
JJ Schafer came from his fifth place starting position to finish in second place in his first series start of the season. Calvin Parham battled through out the top five all day and came away with a third-place finish. Atkinson would finish in fourth place after starting in ninth and earned the Van Hoy Oil Hardcharger Award. Jason Thompson would finish in fifth place in his first start with the series in 2022.
The Van Hoy Oil CRA Street Stocks Powered by JEGS will be back in action on Saturday, September 17th at Anderson Speedway in the series second event of the Chase for the Championship. More information on all the CRA series is available at www.cra-racing.com.
