Auburn, MI - Officials confirmed again on Tuesday that current owner, Michael Blackmer, would not promote Tri City Motor Speedway in Northeast Michigan in 2025. Earlier this month, Blackmer told the Horsepower Happenings Podcast that he "had not made a decision yet" on opening the Speedway for the 2025 season, but that indications were that he would not. In a social media post Tuesday afternoon, those words were confirmed again.
"Dear Race Fans of Tri-City Motor Speedway,
We are working hard to secure a reliable new owner or lessee for the track, ensuring you all can continue to enjoy racing at this venue. While we will not be opening the track ourselves, we remain committed to making it possible for you to race here.
If you have any questions or inquiries about the track, please reach out directly to Michael Blackmer and only Michael Blackmer. Contacting others will not yield accurate or helpful results.
Thank you all for your patience and understanding.
Sincerely,
Michael Blackmer"
There's not clear indication who may be the leading candidate to purchase or lease the facility this season. In the past, Tri City Motor Speedway has hosted events like the DIRTcar UMP Summer Nationals, Great Lakes Super Sprints, Great Lakes Traditional Sprints, and FastShaft IMCA Modified Qualifier events.
